We like food – we like growing it, finding new recipes, making it and WE LOVE eating it.  We have our favourite restaurants – some with the kids and some for date night or adult friends.  Ever been to Kota in Porthleven? You really should, it’s delicious – art on a  plate!

Head to their website here.  www.kotarestaurant.co.uk.

Or their sister restaurant which chef Jude Kereama of BBC2’s Great British Menu (series 10 & 11 South West) has been developed with ‘foodies with families’ in mind.  So basically if you love really good food and want to enjoy them in a family friendly restaurant so everyone in your group can try out some new dishes. At the head of Porthleven harbour Kota Kai has a great view over the boats and out to the iconic Clock Tower from their first floor restaurant.  www.kotakai.co.uk

If you head right to the tip of The Lizard Point there is a fabulous cliff edge cafe called Polpeor Cafe.  It’s family owned and managed by a friendly team.  The menu is huge and varied and freshly cooked to order.  The fresh fish medley is incredibly popular and there’s no wonder why.  With mackerel, cod, pollock and lemon sole with chips and salad you get an overflowing plateful of deliciousness.  Polpeor Cafe doesn’t have a website yet but you can book a table (only larger groups) on 01326 290939.  And while you’re there you have to try a Jubilee Meringue dessert – homemade meringue topped with blackberry and apple compote, ice cream and a glorious dollop of Roddas Cornish Clotted Cream.

Another personal favourite is Porthmeor Beach Cafe in St Ives – handily right between the Tate and the beach – ART, BEACH, FOOD and WINE.  A definitely happy place, I could stay for hours!
