With Camp Bestival kicking off this weekend I have this huge feeling on FOMO hitting me square in the face. We took our little adventurers of to Camp Festival a couple of years ago it was epic. We were lucky enough to be invited to work on one of our loveliest friends farm stall – selling all kinds of fresh berries and lovely thick clotted cream. (Roddas Of course).
The kids loved it, as we got there before the other visitors and had an evening in the sunshine setting up the stall.
Our tent was a great but did spring a leak when the heavy rain hit on the last night. Luckily the lovely security guards sleeping around us (safest campsite ever) took it upon themselves to fix it for us while we headed into the festival to play and again. Such wonderful chaps.
The festival itself is on the grounds of Lulworth Castle. Sweet setting for a day out, even more perfect for a family festival!
Meg had a great time arranging all the beautiful sun flowers Rob had bought along from the farm and then the kids were more than happy to act as store holders – never try to barter with my kids – you’ll come out seriously short changed!
We indulged in our favourite games of dressing up, with as much glitter and wigs you could shake a stick at (why you would want to I’m not sure but one does not always question English sayings) .
All around the festival site there were games and crafts for the kids to get involved in. The food tents were varied and there was so much to offer. not just quick burgers – really festival gourmet! Ever had an AnnieMac & Cheese? I loved it so much I had to buy her recipe book when we got home to try out some of them myself.
Drew and Meg got heavily involved with the Oxfam musical tent, as well as playing tunes of the piano’s hidden around the site. The music was incredible – we got to see Sophie Ellis Bexter, Basement Jaxx and so many other fantastic artists. But the best thing of the whole festival – the firework finale! I wish I had a video – it was awesome. I just couldn’t take my eyes from the skies to get my camera out!
This year is a no-go with the legs but I’m putting pennies away already and planning some festival outfits ready for 2017!
